Join us on Monday evenings at 6:30 for both fun socializing and obedience school

- Dogs must have a Distemper / Parvo vaccine at 4+ months to participate
- No aggressive dogs allowed
- $20/class, no commitment, drop in
- Located at Safari Dogs Ranch located between Aubrey and Denton near FM 428. Address given once you are signed up.
6:30 PM. Play Time. The first 30 minutes is off leash play for the dogs. Dogs are divided into yards by size and play style. Dogs must not be human or dog aggressive to play.
7:00 PM. Obedience. Leashes on and learning begins. Learn how to teach your dog to:

Settle= relax and enjoy being held in multiple positions done at the vet
After a few weeks of practice, your dog will be able to listen and focus on these commands both at home and the distracting group class environment.
** Group class is only for practicing obedience in a distracting environment. Set up a private lesson with Alicia if you need help with behavior problems.
Methods:
Many methods are allowed and used in class. Food, toys, praise are encouraged for rewards. Pressure points, hands on placement, training collars and corrections are encouraged for non-compliance. The balance between methods is unique to each dog and you will be encouraged to use what works best for your dog. Watch videos and learn about Alicia’s methods here.

Hi I’m Alicia. I’ve taught group dog obedience classes since 1990. I believe in being a diligent teacher to ensure the dog understands the lessons. I cater the “how” to each student in class. A wide variety of methods can all be utilized in my class as long as we are being fair to the dogs. Read more about me here.
What to Bring:
A hungry & well rested dog
Leash 6’-10’ long
A collar the dog can not slip out of. All training collars are allowed.
Yummy food for training in a Fanny pack, in a pocket etc. Not in a bag in your hand.
A blanket or towel to sit on the ground with your dog for settle, lie down and stay training. The ground will be gravel, concrete or grass (depending on weather).
